Overview

CRNA position providing all elements of pre-anesthesia, anesthesia and post-anesthesia services including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care in collaboration with the surgeon/anesthesiologist/surgical team.

Responsibilities
  • Provides all elements of pre-anesthesia, anesthesia and post-anesthesia services including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care consistent with anesthesia plan and in collaboration with the surgeon/anesthesiologist/surgical team.
  • Manages conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives.
  • Participates in preoperative evaluation including assessment, exam, obtaining informed consent, ordering/administering premedications, and reviewing preoperative studies.
  • Ensures readiness and availability of equipment, supplies and medications to perform the planned anesthetic.
  • Delivers anesthesia care including induction, maintenance, support of life functions, and emergence from anesthesia.
  • Selects, obtains, and administers necessary anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and temperature regulating devices to manage the anesthetic, assesses response, and intervenes as needed.
  • Performs post-anesthesia duties including remaining with the patient, facilitating safe transfer of care, and providing postoperative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon; conducts post-anesthetic visits for anesthesia-related complications.
  • Manages emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients, including advanced airway management, administration of emergency drugs and fluids, and use of basic and advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record; substantiates and submits professional services compliant with coding and billing practices.
  • Participates in quality, safety and peer review initiatives and attends organizational/departmental meetings and committees as needed.
  • Participates in education and/or onboarding of new team members, students, and other health care professionals; seeks experiences to develop clinical and professional skills.
  • Maintains standards of productivity, access, face-to-face time, and quality metrics to ensure optimal, safe and timely patient care delivery.
Qualifications
  • Active RN and APRN/APRN-FPA/APNP or other APRN license(s) in state(s) of practice; active national board certification as CRNA by NBCRNA; active DEA registration prior to hire.
  • If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire.
  • Active ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical site/practice and/or role prior to or within 6 months of hire.
  • Education Required:

    Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience

    Required:

    No experience required.
  • Demonstrated high level of clinical proficiency, decision-making, ability to work independently and within a team, adaptability to evolving technology, and proficiency with the electronic medical record.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate and build relationships; strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Physical Requirements
  • Must have functional vision and hearing.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist; lift up to 20 lbs over the head; carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance; push/pull with 30 lbs of force; perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with assistance.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently; participate in patient positioning and transporting duties with proper technique.
  • Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines and wear gloves, goggles and gowns as needed; exposure to hazards including mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids.
