OverviewWe are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our outpatient Heart Failure team in Winston-Salem, NC. The role focuses on advanced heart failure and transplant cases within an academic clinical environment, with opportunities for education, scholarly activities, and professional growth. The team collaborates closely with attending cardiologists and other cardiology APPs.
Responsibilities- Review and interpret cardiac imaging reports; explain abnormal findings to patients and assist supervising attendings with diagnostic and therapeutic steps.
- Manage and respond to outpatient patient communications and phone calls.
- Develop appropriate patient care plans using medical decision-making skills.
- Collaborate with the medical team for effective team-based care.
- Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity and preparation to patients.
- Perform procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.
- Participate in basic science and clinical research projects; precept students or medical learners when possible.
- Uphold Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist missions, values, and cultural commitment.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program;
Master’s Degree preferred - Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, certified by NCCPA
- Minimum of two years of experience in a cardiovascular or heart failure care environment
- BLS and ACLS certification required
Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master’s Program;
Master’s degree or higher required - Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license
- Board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC
- Minimum of two years of experience in a cardiovascular or heart failure care environment
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- CME Reimbursement:
Up to $2,500 plus 5 additional PTO days per year for CME - Work/Life Balance:
Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm; no weekends, nights, or on-call - Generous PTO:
Accrual starting at 25 days/year - Relocation Assistance:
