Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a cardiac progressive care unit at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring NC or compact RN licensure and strong cardiac experience.

• Work in a cardiac PCU within a hospital setting
• Unit has 28 beds with an average census of 26
• Patient population includes heart failure, post-procedural cardiac patients (Cath/EP), and vascular cases
• RN to patient ratios are typically 1:4-5
• Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for med dispensing, and Philips monitoring equipment
• Night shift position with 6:30pm start time
• Required to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays
• Floating within the cardiology division first, then to other med-surg units as needed; 5 facility float clause applies for emergencies
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Support is provided by CNAs, a unit receptionist/HUC, a charge RN, 24/7 RT, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Nurses are responsible for monitoring and verifying telemetry strips once per shift
• No IV/VAT team available
• Orientation includes NEO and two days of departmental training
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free on-site parking provided
• Team-oriented unit culture with a strong emphasis on teamwork
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Up to 5 days of RTO allowed per cycle

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent cardiac unit experience required
• Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and cardiac post-procedural care required
• Must be comfortable titrating drips including insulin, heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Aggrestat, and pressors
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Peripheral blood draw skills required
