Body Technician

Join our team of body technicians at Gerber Collision & Glass.

We are one of the largest collision repair companies in North America, with over 1,000 locations and more than 10,000 team members across the United States and Canada.

• Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
• Plan repair work, prepare cost estimates for customers, and use various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
• Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage when possible; mix and apply filler resins to repair dents when other methods are not feasible.
• Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
• Remove damaged sections of vehicles and replace them with new or aftermarket parts; replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
• Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
• Weld and otherwise attach or fit parts into place, and prep and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or an agreed‑upon equivalent.
• Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines and ensure all work has been executed correctly by inspecting vehicles after repair.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.

• Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other repairers in an auto body shop.
• Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
• Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.

• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
• Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
