Description
Fleet Preventative Maintenance Technician – Non‑Exempt, competitive hourly, 2nd shift. Join our dynamic team. Responsibilities include traveling with maintenance supplies to dispersed equipment, performing on‑site maintenance on all machinery and vehicles, monitoring inventory, inspecting vehicles, and performing preventative maintenance. Role is planned for off‑shift work and is flexible to include nights and weekends. Physical and mental fitness is required.
Mechanic Responsibilities- Communicate within the organization to coordinate and schedule PM activities efficiently.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
- Operate and inspect machines or vehicles to diagnose defects or functionality problems and alert clients on issues that prohibit vehicles from passing inspection.
- Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
- Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records in written or electronic form.
- Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
- Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle users.
- Operate individually and within a team environment.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures; perform daily equipment inspections and identify and correct unsafe conditions.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance scheduling.
- Certification from a vocational or trade school is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of journeyman‑level mechanic experience.
- In‑depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
- Strong attention to detail and aptitude for problem‑solving.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physical requirements:
ability to sit, stand, walk, push, pull, twist, climb, balance, bend, kneel, reach, grasp, squat, perform repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements, use wrists, use both feet, use arms, work extended periods in the same position, tolerate extreme temperatures, lift and carry up to 75 lbs, work in confined spaces, use respiratory and other personal protective equipment. - Valid driver’s license.

- Experience working on and/or repairing hydraulic systems on fleet vehicles.
- Certification for aerial device maintenance.
- Pre‑employment drug screen, background check, and MVR check required upon offer.
- Rarely: walking, kneeling, squatting, crawling, climbing, lifting 10–50 lbs, balancing.
- Occasionally: standing, stooping, twisting, gripping, reaching, climbing stairs.
- Frequently: sitting, speaking clearly, reading, hearing.
- Constantly: seeing.
Due to hazardous equipment, employees must maintain adequate vision, concentration, and endurance for all weather, wear personal protective equipment, and maintain job site safety. They must identify hazards, apply cognitive problem‑solving, and work around energized or hazardous parts, excessive noise, and hot/cold environments.
