SwimLesson Teacher – Role Summary
This is a year-round position. Swim Instructors will conduct swim lessons for multiple clients of different ages and skill levels. Instructors may be asked to perform ad hoc business-related duties. This role typically reports to the Deck Leader and Aquatics Director.
Role Requirements and Responsibilities- Instruct individual and small groups swim lessons and water safety.
- Ensure lessons are taught using procedures and methods explained in training.
- Educate and enforce safety rules. Strive to prevent accidents and maintain discipline.
- Administer first aid in the event of injury.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe pool environment for clients, staff, and the general public.
- Represent the mission and vision of Salem Gymnastics & Swim.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform ad hoc duties as needed (e.g., office/clerical work, event participation).
- Practice excellent customer service and communicate with everyone who comes to the facility.
- Smile and have fun during the entire shift. Ensure that every child receives equal enthusiasm.
- Past experience in lifeguarding; swim instruction is a plus.
- Passion for the water and working with children.
- Knowledge of general safety rules and precautions.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to work positively with a wide range of student abilities and ages.
- Strong communication skills with children and adults.
- Ability to handle a rigorous schedule including lifting, loading, and moving up to 40 lbs.
- dependable motor vehicle transportation is a must.
- Ability to work in and around swimming pools with exposure to chlorinated and chemically treated water.
