Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounts payable operations for a university environment in Winter Haven, Florida. This contract opportunity is well suited for someone who can balance day-to-day invoice processing with oversight of approval workflows, vendor setup, and compliance-related reporting. The role also offers the chance to contribute to audit support and maintain accurate financial records in a collaborative accounting team.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing and entering invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor payment schedules to help ensure vendors are paid within established deadlines.
• Verify that invoices and expense submissions include the appropriate approvals before processing.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight for a member of the accounts payable team.
• Create and maintain vendor records, including setting up new suppliers in the accounting system.
• Process employee travel and expense reimbursements in accordance with organizational policies.
• Assist with state reporting activities and prepare documentation needed for audits.
• Record accounting activity through journal entries and support the accuracy of the general ledger.
