Job Title: General Laborer – Paving Crew
Department: Asphalt & Paving
Reports To: Paving Foreman / Superintendent
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The General Laborer supports the paving crew with physical tasks including raking, shoveling, site prep, and cleanup to ensure safe and efficient asphalt paving operations.

• Perform handwork including raking, shoveling, lutting, and tamping asphalt.
• Assist paver and roller operators by maintaining safe distances and smooth workflow.
• Set up and maintain traffic control, signs, and cones as directed.
• Prepare work areas, remove debris, and maintain clean job sites.
• Load, unload, and move tools, equipment, and materials.
• Support general paving activities including edge work, joint work, and finish work.
• Follow direction from the paving foreman or crew leaders.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and use required PPE at all times.

• Previous construction or asphalt experience preferred but not required.
• Ability and willingness to perform physical labor outdoors.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability.
• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs consistently.
• Ability to work long hours, weekends, and overtime when required.

This role requires regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50–75 lbs. Work is performed outdoors on active construction and paving sites and may involve exposure to extreme heat, sun, rain, cold, dust, fumes, odors, high noise levels, and hot materials. The position involves working near heavy equipment and active traffic. PPE is required at all times. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
