Welder

About the Role

The Welder is responsible for operating various types of welding equipment and is proficient in flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal arc, SMAW and Flux Core, Tig Welding, and air arc skills. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Set up tools, welding equipment and supplies at the job site.
• Burns pipe and penetration.
• Tacks and welds pipe.
• Cleans weld area; sweeps and removes scrap.
• Determines the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Operates angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
• Aligns components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
• Welds components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
• Repairs machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Tests and inspects welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Additional duties as needed.

• High school diploma required.
• Proven experience as welder 2 or more years.
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.).
• Ability to read and understand measurements.
• Communicates well with others and is able to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, stand for long periods of time, climb, push, pull, carry, and reach for items.
• Keen sense of attention to detail.
