Freedom Boat Club – Boating Instructor, Lake Eloise, FL
Freedom Boat Club, a division of Brunswick Corporation, is seeking a part‑time, customer‑focused Boating Instructor to train and onboard club members through virtual classroom and on‑the‑water sessions. The Instructor will work flexible hours on weekdays and weekends as needed and must hold a U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s license.
Position OverviewThis role is part of the talented Freedom Boat Club training team. The Instructor will greet and welcome new members, conduct classroom and on‑water training, identify training gaps, record certifications, and provide a “Red Carpet level” of service to members and guests. The role also involves communicating about the Club to potential members and performing additional duties as assigned.
Essential Functions- Greet and welcome new members
- Organize and conduct classroom and on‑water training on skill, policy, and compliance areas
- Identify areas requiring additional or beneficial training
- Record training certifications in the reservation system
- Maintain a professional appearance and uniform
- Handle minor member mishaps or incidents with a friendly disposition
- Provide “Red Carpet” level treatment to members and guests
- Engage potential members about the club
- Complete additional duties as assigned
- U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License
- Background check and drug screen clearance
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Boating experience in or around boats
- Vision adequate to read/manipulate handheld computer tablets
- Electronics knowledge and utilization (smartphone/tablet)
- Calm, positive attitude during high‑activity periods
- Cooperative, team attitude in working with supervisors and employees
- Excellent communication skills and friendly customer service
- Professional communication with co‑workers, corporate, and members
- Self‑starter capable of working unsupervised
- High attention to detail
- Adhere to all safety policies
- Previous instructor experience
- Movement between docks and boats on unstable, wet surfaces; large drops (~4 ft) between dock and vessel
- Extended periods standing
- Exposure to outside elements (heat, rain, cold, extreme weather)
- Work in marina setting on fixed or floating docks
- Work near and on water; safe movement on/off vessels during tide and weather conditions
Pay: $18 per hour. The position is eligible for Brunswick benefit offerings including 401(k) (up to 4% match), wellbeing program, and product purchase discounts.
