Position OverviewThe Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. This open‑rank faculty position focuses on basic or translational research in colorectal cancer, with particular expertise in oncogene sis, treatment resistance, microbial interactions, bioinformatics, drug discovery, or immunotherapy being a plus. Candidates are expected to have an established research program, a strong record of publications, and current extramural funding (e.g., NIH R01 or equivalent).
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to secure extramural funding (e.g., NIH R01).
- Publish research in high‑quality, peer‑reviewed scientific journals; present findings at national and international conferences to build a scholarly reputation.
- Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellows; participate in departmental, college, and university committees and initiatives.
- PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant field.
- Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research.
- Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Current, active extramural grant funding equivalent to an NIH R01.
- Academic experience is a plus.
- Eligible for appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level; rank and salary commensurate with prior training and experience.
