Application Engineer – Metal Cutting Tools at Kennametal (Orlando, FL; preferred location; also considering Jacksonville or Gainesville).
Job SummarySupport customer relationships by maintaining deep product technical knowledge for metal cutting tooling and providing technical advice, support, and expertise to enable & foster expansion in the market, solve customer inquiries, problems, and needs; enabling Kennametal to be the go-to supplier for the customers’ tooling application demands. Liaise with Sales Engineers, Productivity Engineers, and Inside Sales to support customers’ technical needs for tooling.
Key Job Responsibilities- Be an expert in the company’s products and applications across end‑markets while being vigilant of cost savings and expansion into untapped market applications.
- Understand the difference in Kennametal’s products versus competitor’s offerings and provide expert advice on the advantages of the company’s products in specific applications.
- Perform analysis of complex application needs and develop recommendations to support customer business decisions. Conduct tooling and application testing. Prepare and present progress, status, and forecasting reports of assigned areas of responsibility.
- Maintain expert knowledge on machining industry trends, training opportunities, and forecasts.
- Support sales growth by using the company’s products/technology to design and execute cost‑saving initiatives with customers.
- Active collaboration with internal customers such as Product Marketing, Manufacturing, Technology, etc., to ensure information sharing and goal alignment.
- Promote e‑commerce and other innovative revenue streams to support all customers and their buying habits.
- 5–8 years of relevant work experience required.
- Strong knowledge and experience with CNC machining processes and tooling application.
- Preferred areas of education, certifications, and skills:
Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering.
