Deep Foundation Staff Engineer

Overview

General Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include performing field deep foundation testing including high-strain dynamic load testing using PDA (PDA), cross-hole sonic logging (CSL), thermal integrity profiling (TIP), pile integrity testing (PIT), and static load testing, and performing analyses and developing technical reports under a licensed professional engineer’s supervision. Assist preparing proposals and manage assigned deep foundation testing projects and clients. Projects may span transportation, commercial, public works, communications, energy and industrial sectors.

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning and promptly report safety concerns to management.
• Demonstrate strong quality practices and attention to detail across all project tasks.
• Ensure consistent quality in both proposal development and project execution.
• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, and other project related documents.
• Conduct, coordinate or supervise field testing and data analysis.
• Perform high-strain dynamic testing of driven piles and drilled shafts using a Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) and CAPWAP software.
• Perform wave equation analyses using GRLWEAP software.
• Conduct Crosshole Sonic Logging (CSL), Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP) and Low-Strain Integrity Testing (PIT) of drilled shafts and similar foundations.
• Conduct conventional static load testing of deep foundation systems.
• Interacts with clients and internal teams to develop scopes of services and communicate project progress.
• Work under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer and a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or other related field (required).
• PDCA/PDI PDA Certificate Level Intermediate or Higher (Preferred).
• Minimum 1-5 years’ experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification (Required).
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
• Preferred experience in deep foundation testing or geotechnical engineering.
