Responsibilities
  • Greet guests at assigned tables and ensure each guest has a menu
  • Offer, sell and obtain cocktail orders and give to bartender
  • Obtain food order and give to and kitchen staff for preparation
  • Serve beverages and food once prepared and make sure guests have everything they need
  • Up-sell/suggestively sell food and beverages by describing each item in an appealing way to increase check average
  • Return to assigned tables periodically to see if additional items are desired. When guests have completed their meal, a dessert is suggested. Once the guest(s) have completed their meal or dessert, and don’t need anything else, the check is delivered.
  • Maintain awareness of assigned tables, anticipate guest needs and respond to requests
  • Remove dirty dishes, glasses and silverware, place in respective trays
  • Prepare tables for service - wipe clean, set with clean linen, glassware, and silverware, properly placed; place condiments in an attractive fashion. May concentrate all efforts on service during rush periods
  • Maintain knowledge of menu, daily specials, prices, composition of food and beverage menu items
  • Know proper plating procedures for all menu items and daily specials
  • Refill all condiments and serving station supplies at the end of each shift
  • Maintain food and beverage control (i.e., liquor and food portion control, age verification); follow guidelines and practices outlined in TIPs training
  • Perform opening and closing work as requested
  • Maintain knowledge of current in-house and company marketing programs
