About Binabik AI

Binabik AI is a deep-tech robotics startup with roots at ZHAW and ETH Zurich, building the first agentic operating system for humanoid and industrial robots: a modular "brain" that lets robots learn quickly from limited data and perform long-horizon tasks in dynamic, unstructured environments.

Our stack is ROS 2 native and orchestrates specialized models, reusable skills, and persistent memory through a multi-agent architecture. This is what lets our robots adapt to new tasks with far less data than end-to-end approaches. We are already running paid pilots in healthcare and logistics, with further verticals to follow in 2026.

We are based at Technopark Winterthur and backed by a strong network of grants, strategic hardware partners across the leading humanoid manufacturers, and a pre‑seed round closing in Q3 2026.

About the Role

This is a forward deployed engineering role, not a traditional field service role. You will be the person who takes our agentic OS out of the lab and makes it work in a factory, a parcel‑sorting hub, or a fulfillment center — and you will write code to make that happen.

Roughly half of your time will be on customer sites across Europe: setting up robots, tuning behaviors against the actual workspace, running teleoperation and data‑collection sessions, and shipping the changes needed to make the deployment succeed. The other half is in Winterthur, working alongside the founding team and core engineers, hardening what you learned in the field into the platform itself.

You will be one of the few people who has seen our system run outside the lab, which means your work will directly shape the roadmap.

This role suits someone who is genuinely hybrid: comfortable writing production code, comfortable on a factory floor with a screwdriver, and comfortable in front of a customer.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy our agentic OS onto humanoid and mobile‑manipulation platforms at customer sites across Europe.
  • Adapt and extend robot behaviors on‑site: configure skills, tune perception and manipulation pipelines, and write the integration code needed for each environment.
  • Commission hardware end‑to‑end — mechanical, electrical, network — and run acceptance tests against customer‑defined workflows.
  • Lead teleoperation sessions and structured data‑collection campaigns; build the tooling and scripts that make these scalable.
  • Contribute production code back to the core platform (ROS 2, Python) based on what you learn in the field.
  • Act as the primary on‑site technical contact for customers and partners, and close the feedback loop with the engineering team in Winterthur.
Requirements
  • MSc (or equivalent experience) in robotics, computer science, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python; comfortable in a (distributed) Linux environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with ROS or ROS 2, including building and debugging real robotic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to debug across the full stack — from a misbehaving sensor or actuator up to a misbehaving policy or planner.
  • Strong customer‑facing skills: you can run a deployment week at a customer site without supervision and represent Binabik professionally.
  • Fluent English (our working language).
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within Europe, sometimes on short notice.
  • A valid car driving licence and the right to work in Switzerland.
Nice to Have
  • Experience deploying robots in industrial, logistics, or healthcare environments.
  • Experience with humanoid or mobile‑manipulation platforms (Agibot, Unitree, Galaxea, or similar).
  • Experience with teleoperation systems, imitation learning, or data‑collection pipelines for robot learning.
  • Familiarity with manipulation stacks, motion planning, or modern perception models (VLAs, VLMs in a robotics context).
  • German, or another European language relevant to our customer base (Italian, Spanish, French).
  • Prior experience as a forward deployed engineer, solutions engineer, or field applications engineer at a deep‑tech startup.
What We Offer
  • A founding‑team‑adjacent role at a deep‑tech robotics startup solving a real problem in physical AI.
  • Direct exposure to multiple state‑of‑the‑art humanoid platforms and to real industrial deployments across Europe.
  • Real ownership: what you build and learn in the field will land in the core product.
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity in a pre‑seed‑stage Swiss AG.
  • A base at Technopark Winterthur, in the Zurich/Winterthur deep‑tech ecosystem.
