We are seeking an experienced L3 Open Stack Engineer to provide senior-level engineering and operational support for enterprise Open Stack environments.

The role focuses on complex troubleshooting, control-plane operations, architecture validation, performance optimization, capacity planning, and the resolution of high-priority incidents. As a technical escalation point, you will guide L2 teams and contribute to the stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of cloud platform services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advanced administration and engineering support for Open Stack cloud platforms.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis across Open Stack services and infrastructure components.
  • Manage control-plane health, platform resilience, and operational readiness.
  • Support multi-region and multi-availability-zone (AZ) environments, ensuring reliable and scalable service delivery.
  • Validate architecture designs and provide recommendations for performance, capacity, and operational improvements.
  • Act as an escalation point for critical incidents and complex operational challenges.
  • Mentor and guide L2 engineers through advanced day-2 operational scenarios.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, Linux, Kubernetes, networking, and storage teams to ensure end-to-end platform stability.
Required Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience administering and supporting enterprise Open Stack environments.
  • Strong expertise in Open Stack architecture, operations, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems, virtualization, networking, storage, and cloud infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with performance analysis, capacity planning, high availability, and platform resilience.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex technical issues and lead incident response activities.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred

Certifications:
  • Advanced Open Stack platform certification
  • Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) or equivalent cloud-focused certification
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)
  • Additional Security, Network, Storage, or Compute infrastructure certifications are advantageous
Language Requirement:
  • German language proficiency at minimum B2 level is mandatory.
  • The role requires the ability to participate in technical discussions, incident coordination, service reviews, change management activities, and day-to-day communication with German-speaking stakeholders, customers, and operational teams.
Citizenship Requirement:
  • Applicants must hold Swiss citizenship.
Location:
  • Winterthur area, Switzerland
  • Candidates should be based in, or regularly available within the Winterthur region to support customer interactions, operational alignment, coordination with onsite and remote-hands teams, and participation in governance, escalation, and service review meetings as required.
