Job DescriptionWinterville Charter Academy is seeking a Social Worker to provide counseling, support, and consultation services to special education, general education, and school staff. The role involves engaging with students, parents, and community resources to promote academic and behavioral success.

- Provide group and individual counseling sessions and classroom support to special education students as mandated per student IEPs, and monitor IEP goal progress.
- Provide group and individual counseling sessions to general education students and monitor responses to identified interventions.
- Develop and monitor behavior intervention plans, offering support and consultation to general and special education teachers.
- Complete psychosocial assessments for special education services determination.
- Conduct functional behavior assessments and communicate results to all team members in parent‑friendly language.
- Complete risk assessments for students referred for school social work services.
- Establish relationships with students and parents, participating in all aspects of school planning.
- Assist in identifying community resources for students and make referrals to facilitate educational and behavioral interventions.
- Provide staff consultation on behavioral‑emotional‑environmental issues affecting student participation, collaborating with school staff and other personnel to implement strategies for student learning.
- Provide crisis intervention services.
- Maintain state‑required clinical records and submit documents for statistical reports, adhering to program standards in school social work.
- Hold a master’s degree in social work; exceptions apply in North Carolina and Ohio.
- Hold a valid social work license issued in the state of application.
- Candidates for positions in Michigan must have state approval as a school social worker.
- Knowledge of special education processes and procedures is preferred.
- Experience working with at‑risk students is preferred if applicable to the school.
