Accounts and Audit Accountant

An excellent opportunity has arisen at an established accountancy firm in Wisbech who are looking to hire from a Semi-Senior, up to Senior Accountant level in a mixed Audit and Accounts job. The role is likely to be 60% Audit with 40% of the role in Accounts. This allows for a well-rounded role, and can offer excellent career progression, as well as competitive salaries.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit (60%)

• Lead and manage audit engagements, from planning to finalisation
• Supervise and mentor audit teams, ensuring compliance with audit methodologies
• Review audit work papers and ensure adherence to UK GAAP, IFRS, and auditing standards
• Identify and evaluate audit risks; develop and implement risk mitigation strategies
• Liaise with clients to gather information and address audit queries

Accounts (40%)

• Prepare and review statutory financial statements for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts and other financial reports
• Ensure accuracy and compliance of accounting records and supporting schedules
• Support the year-end accounts package and liaise with tax teams as required

Requirements:

• Exposure to accounts preparation and client-facing responsibilities
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite
