Job Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and actively lead the safe execution of work.
  • Provide lead support to some areas of the mill operation to deliver performance and cost analyses, insights, and inputs to the forecasting process.
  • Maintain a general understanding of mill manufacturing operations, product, and customers, with strong knowledge of cost accounting and mill accounting transactions.
  • Support mill daily product cost reporting and cost management reporting.
  • Perform intermediate to advanced financial reporting and analysis, including optimizing new reports, working with operations to solve outliers in costs and production, and handling advanced SAP tasks such as recipe loading and costing.
  • Develop mid-level COGP and P&L, identify profitability levers, suggest improvement opportunities, lead complex projects on cost savings, evaluate capital project returns, and create advanced journal entries.
  • Support month‑end, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely completion of the close, producing reporting packs, investigating and explaining manufacturing and cost variances, and providing support to operations managers.
  • Support the annual budget process for some mill operations, analyzing product costing and justifying variances against prior periods and budgets.
  • Implement consistent mill inventory processes.
  • Collaborate with operation teams and key stakeholders on continuous improvement initiatives, assisting with monthly/quarterly performance calculations and future forecasts.
  • Support implementation of consistent financial best practices and process efficiency, continuously identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Work with operation areas to develop visible cost reporting KPIs that enable active decision making.
  • Support the annual audit process through provision of audit schedules and analysis of results, inventory, costs, or other key performance metrics.

Required Experience
  • 2+ years of Financial Analyst or Accounting experience, primarily in manufacturing.
  • Excellent organization, time‑management, problem‑solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload and perform under pressure.
  • Experience with system enhancements and integrations.
  • Excellent communication skills across all departments and levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced Excel); SAP preferred but any ERP acceptable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business required.
  • Cost accounting and mill accounting experience a plus.
