We are seeking an Associate Director, State & Local Government Consulting to lead high-impact engagements for Texas state agencies, local governments, and public sector organizations. This role combines client leadership, delivery excellence, business development, and team mentorship, offering the opportunity to work directly with senior executives on initiatives that impact local communities.

Our Consulting Associate Directors are leaders, responsible for directing a team of Gartner consultants and subject matter experts to ensure the execution of a statement of work. You will also support our Managing Partners in their business development activities, supporting client meetings, conferences, and sales presentations – and subsequently, help to create discussion documents, scoping documents, and formal proposal responses as requested.

As an Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for:

Driving Exceptional Consulting Delivery

• Lead consulting engagements from project kickoff through successful completion
• Manage project scope, quality, risks, financial performance, and client satisfaction
• Design and deliver engagements using approved AI-tools
• Guide consulting teams in developing actionable recommendations and executive-level deliverables
• Build long-term client relationships that create lasting impact
• Ensure engagements deliver tangible value and sustainable results

Contributing to Business Growth by:

• Identifying opportunities to address emerging client challenges
• Supporting proposal development and client presentations
• Collaborating with Managing Partners and other Gartner team members
• Contributing to consulting offerings and thought leadership
• Helping clients understand how emerging technologies, including AI, can support their strategic objectives
