The Role:
The Safety Manager will support project staff and the TW Constructors safety team to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. You will participate in and complete all assignments designated to you, including assisting in the development of a zero-injury safety culture on each project, conducting weekly documented jobsite safety inspections, communicating orientations for all new project workers, assisting with and reviewing subcontractor daily pre-task safety analyses, promoting and participating in the daily stretch and flex program, identifying project trends, and executing proactive safety initiatives to prevent incidents.
You will support corporate goals and initiatives, emphasize proactive safety such as near-miss reporting, coach workers on safe work methods, and report all incidents in a timely manner following established protocols. You will be a champion for safe work practices on every project you are dedicated to. Travel is a requirement of this position.
Responsibilities:
- Travel is required with this position
- Conduct weekly documented jobsite safety inspections
- Develop and support a zero-injury safety culture on each project
- Direct orientations for all new project workers
- Assist with and review subcontractor daily pre-task safety analysis
- Identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents
- Report all incidents in an effective and timely manner
- Assist in development of the project safety program
- Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new project employees; administer and record participation in the orientation program
- Attend initial meetings with project staff and subcontractor representatives to define roles within the project safety program
- Manage other safety supervisors on the project
- Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with subcontractor representatives to establish safety procedures prior to activity on site
- Establish and conduct regular weekly safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and project staff
- Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure standards comply with OSHA/TW Constructors and Federal, State, and Local requirements
- Maintain a log of subcontractor toolbox talks
- Review each subcontractor’s safety program to ensure it meets or exceeds project requirements
- Ensure each subcontractor designates a qualified safety representative
- Conduct regular daily and weekly site inspections and complete safety checklists with corrective actions
- Record, notify, and prepare written reports of violations to subcontractors for immediate correction
- Stop any unsafe act or practice immediately
- Assist the Project Superintendent with fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures
- Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports in a timely manner
- Establish and maintain all required safety records
- Conduct monthly safety overview meetings and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues
- Perform other duties as necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- Electrical and/or Lift Safety Experience Preferred
- General knowledge of construction principles and practices required
