Job Description & How to Apply Below
To own Plotsy's cinematic adaptations end to end using our proprietary Cineversion™ process. The Show runner will bridge human creativity and AI technology, serving as the single point of accountability to transform written books into high-quality, episodic videos. Your goal is to guide a multi-role team from initial script development through final distribution, ensuring narrative integrity, strict schedule adherence, and creative excellence.
HowYou Will Spend Your Time
- 40% Project Management & Team Oversight: Work with the VP of Operations in building schedules, tracking milestones, managing production risks, and driving the team to hit daily content targets.
- 30% Creative Leadership & Development: Partnering with C-suite executives to establish visual strategy, shepherd scripts, and maintain the "north star" for story tone and pacing.
- 20% Post-Production & Delivery: Overseeing editorial workflows, directing sound design, executing executive notes, and managing final quality control (QC).
- 10% Strategy & Optimization: Documenting project learnings and refining the production playbook to optimize future adaptation workflows.
- Pipeline Checkpoints: Run recurring reviews, dailies, and handoff checkpoints to ensure the production pipeline never sits idle.
- Master Schedule Management: Maintain timelines across development, generation, editorial, sound, and delivery, managing all dependencies and critical paths.
- Production Target Enforcement: Hold the team accountable to hitting 40-45 minutes of finished content per episode (roughly 2 minutes of finished content per day per director).
- Phase Sign-Offs: Gate and approve internal phase transitions (script - boards - generation - rough cut - sound) so downstream teams never build on an unapproved foundation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Episodic Directors, Editors, Sound, and AI Production Engineers to maintain visual language and continuity across all episodes.
- Executive Review Preparation: Present Assemblies, Rough Cut and Picture Lock to the Creative Executive and/or the Chief Content Officer (CCO) absorbing their notes and executing them efficiently to achieve final lock.
- Final Delivery & QC: Own the final creative and technical review of every locked episode, ensuring correct specs, formats, and captions before clean handoff to distribution.
- The Show runner Mindset: Proven experience managing a project from development through delivery with direct accountability for the creative output and deadlines.
- Project Management Muscle: Demonstrated ability to run multi-role creative teams, build timelines, manage dependencies, and hold standards without burning the team out.
- Adaptation Expertise: A strong background in screenwriting or story editing, specifically in adapting long-form literature into episodic content.
- AI Production Fluency: Comprehensive understanding of generative image/video models, their limitations, and workflows for integrating AI tools into production.
- Post-Production Literacy: Deep understanding of post workflows, specs, and deliverables. Proficiency in high-end NLEs like Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Avid is a strong plus.
- Collaborative Leadership: Comfort presenting work to senior stakeholders, absorbing and executing executive notes, and protecting the creative needs of your directors and artists.
