The Surgical Technology Instructor is primarily responsible for providing clinical instruction to students in the Surgical Technology Program. Pay will vary by course being taught.

• Under the direct supervision of the Associate Dean, the instructor provides instruction to students within the assigned and approved instructional delivery system and in accordance with the mission, goals, policies, and procedures of the District.
• The instructor is responsible for providing an active learning environment to enable students to demonstrate course competencies and creating a student‑learning‑centered environment that places learning at the center of educational experiences.
• Requires strong organizational skills, good communication skills, an ability to effectively deliver practical hands‑on instruction and include technology in the teaching of classes, and familiarity with all aspects of the Surgical Technology field.
• Must be accessible to students and maintain positive relationships with industry‑related organizations and businesses.
• The successful applicant will be responsible for completing requirements to obtain and maintain a current teaching certification from the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.
• Final candidates interviewed will be required to provide a teaching demonstration.

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Surgical Technology Program.
• Must have certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate field. Occupational experience combined with education and training preparing a person for the occupation totaling 7 years or 14,000 hours shall be equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree.
• Two years (4,000 hours) of directly related occupational experience for occupational subject instructors as a surgical technologist or operating room nurse (must be within the last 5 years).
• One year (2,000 hours) of related occupation experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post‑secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.
• Previous teaching experience is desirable.

Selected candidates will be invited to interview. Candidates may also be required to provide a teaching demonstration.

WTCS Certification:
The successful applicant will be responsible for completing requirements to obtain and maintain a current teaching certification from the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.

This position is Part Time (under 20 hrs./week) and teaches only when school is in session; hours and times may vary depending on when courses are being taught. This position will require the incumbent to be present at clinical site. Current clinical site does require that all persons are fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination will be required.
