St. Patrick Church Youth Minister

STATUS:
Part-time or Full time

The goal of the Youth Ministry is to build disciples for Christ, equipping them to share their faith with others. The mission of discipleship in relational environments should be a key component of the youth ministry. The Youth Minister coordinates and executes various activities that form faith of students in 6th through 12th grades rick Parish including Confirmation preparation

Job Responsibilities
  • Plans and attend the calendar of sessions, meetings and events for the confirmation process, Genesis & Logos (middle school RE), and SP Teens group.
  • Recruits the adult and teen facilitators necessary to carry out the process details.
  • Communicate with volunteer facilitators to keep them informed of session meeting times and session content to insure effective small group time.
  • Set up and clean up for the proposed calendar of sessions.
  • Attend workshop and formation sessions offered by the AOD to stay up-to-date and discover ways to continuously develop and improve our offerings at the Parish level.
  • Meet with volunteers throughout the year and at the completion of the year to evaluate the programs; meet with the Discipleship Formation Coordinator to convey findings and further evaluate.
  • Strive to create a smooth transition from Genesis & Logos to Confirmation prep and then Confirmation to Youth ministry involvement for each teen in our parish community
  • Collaborate with other parish staff and ministries to encourage teen participation in the Church and the service opportunities in the parish community after confirmation.
  • Help create social and service opportunities for a Young Adults group(18-30) to form and gather for faith formation and fellowship.
  • Maintain budgets for all programs (check requests, imputing and updating budget spreadsheet)
  • Collaborate with school to bridge parish and school youth together
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

  • Understand the teen culture and their faith development
  • Ability to develop creative learning experiences for teens
  • Know the theology of the sacrament of Confirmation
  • Awareness of the Parish’s process of preparing Confirmation candidates
  • Ability to meet people where they are at on their faith journey and help them move forward
  • Job Requirements
  • Attend Faith Formation Office Staff Meetings
  • Complete “Protecting All God’s Children” Certification and undergo Background check
  • Maintain certification in Youth Ministry certification through continuing education
  • Be available when necessary to answer questions from parents, candidates, facilitators, and parish staff in a timely manner.
