Grapeland High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a Core Subjects/Special Education teacher and Head Baseball Coach. This full‑time position will involve teaching core subjects and providing specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs, while also leading our high school baseball program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, possess strong leadership skills, and have a deep understanding of both educational and athletic principles.

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for core subjects, ensuring alignment with state standards and individual student needs.
• Provide specialized instruction and support for students with disabilities, adapting teaching methods and materials as necessary.
• Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Collaborate with other educators and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Establish and maintain a positive classroom atmosphere that fosters student engagement and motivation.
• Lead and manage the high school baseball program, including planning practices, developing game strategies, and overseeing player development.
• Organize and coordinate team activities, including games, tournaments, and fundraising events.
• Communicate effectively with student‑athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations and student progress.
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude among players and coaching staff.
• Attend professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance teaching and coaching skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in core subjects and special education.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably in a high school setting.
• Proven experience coaching baseball at the high school level or higher.
• Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategies, and player development techniques.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for practices and games.
