Position: Safety, Health, & Environmental Specialist
Location: Town of Medford

We are a fully integrated sand supply and services company, offering complete sand, logistics, storage, and management solutions to our customers with our in‑basin trans‑loading terminals and our smartsystem storage capabilities. We own and operate premium frac sand mines and related processing facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois, which have access to three Class I rail lines, allowing us to deliver products substantially anywhere in the United States and Canada.

We are currently looking for a Safety, Health, and Environmental Specialist to join our team at our Blair/Taylor facility.

This position will be responsible for assisting the Corporate Health, Safety, & environmental Manager in the administration, maintenance, and operation of the Safety and Environmental programs, while maintaining Environmental standards within established policies and procedures of the facility. The position follows standard practices and procedures and complies with regulatory requirements.

This position will report directly to the Corporate Health, Safety, & environmental Manager.

This position will primarily be based out of our Blair, WI Facility.

Safety

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Corporate HSE Manager with arranging regular training for all mine employees that both exceed MSHA requirements and, more importantly, keep all miners conscious of safety issues.
  • Shadows the Corporate EHS Manager during planned or unplanned MSHA visits.
  • Leads the 1st Responder team by scheduling the meetings and activities, planning and leading the Plant drills, and maintaining ISO and MSHA Compliance.
  • Maintain and update the onsite Emergency Response Plan.
  • Maintain the chemical database onsite.
  • Maintain SDS books; assist in training miners on all new chemicals onsite.
  • Coordinate and lead safety meetings and stand downs.
  • Maintain first aid kits by working with the Administrative Specialist to keep kits current and stocked.
  • Back up to the Corporate EHS Manager in their absence.
  • Works closely with the Corporate EHS Manager on safety issues and other problems.
  • Works closely with Human Resources on site specific Workman Compensation claims.
  • Reviews and, if needed, follow‑ups on all Incident/Accident/Near‑Miss Reports.
  • Attends industry events, MSHA events, and seeks relevant safety training as applicable.
  • Maintains all safety documentation.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Demonstrates constant commitment to safety, professional behavior, and environmental considerations.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of ISO standards and related processes to maintain proper documentation for the relevant quality and environmental systems.
Environmental

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compiles daily/monthly operating records.
  • Installs and inspects erosion control BMP’s and assesses effectiveness.
  • Follows required calendar of compliance.
  • Conducts daily visible emission observations using Method 9.
  • Answers questions related to environmental compliance.
  • Works on improving and exceeding environmental functions on site.
  • Conducts WPDES/SWPPP inspections as prescribed.
  • Maintains accurate records related to chemical inventories, complaint investigations, and shipments of hazardous waste.
  • Performs related field work as required.
  • Maintains operation and inspection logs.
  • Submit clear and concise written reports based on field inspections.
  • Works cooperatively to comply with facility‑wide environmental and quality management systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Coordinates Safety training of employees and ensure they consistently meet expectations.
  • Responsible to meet department goals, complete required paperwork, and communicate with other Supervisors and the Management team.
  • Listen to, identify solutions, and recommend actions for employee grievances and continuous improvement ideas.
  • Achieve desired results through effective leadership and appropriate influence while adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Complete workplace examinations, communicate issues, and direct how to remove hazards.
