Battery Materials Scientist
We are hiring a Battery Materials Scientists to support GEO’s growing U.S. customer base through a mix of hands‑on lab work, technical troubleshooting, and customer‑facing execution. This senior‑level individual contributor role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of chemistry, client service, and technical innovation. You’ll act as the technical bridge between customers and internal R&D—ensuring the products we deliver align precisely with customer specifications.
This is one of the first hires supporting our North America service lab operations, with initial onboarding in China and potential travel to California, Tennessee, and other customer locations.
- Prepare, categorize, and deliver electrolyte samples that meet precise customer specifications
- Act as the technical point of contact for key accounts—translating customer needs into clear inputs for R&D and sales teams
- Support logistics, shipping, and documentation to ensure smooth sample delivery and issue resolution
- Travel a minimum of 30% to customer sites for support, troubleshooting, and relationship management
- Assist with lab setup and maintenance, including equipment oversight and quality control of sample preparation
- Collaborate closely with global R&D, sales, and manufacturing teams to deliver timely and effective technical service
- Represent GEO at conferences, industry meetings, and customer‑facing events
- Serve as a technical advisor and project lead on battery materials initiatives, even without direct reports
- Master’s or PhD in Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in battery materials, chemical R&D, or a related technical role; lithium‑ion experience preferred but not required
- Strong hands‑on experience preparing and testing electrolytes or advanced battery materials
- Ability to lead technical conversations with senior customer stakeholders (executive presence)
- Detail‑oriented with strong skills in lab work, documentation, and communication
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and project leadership abilities
- Mandarin proficiency is strongly preferred but not required
- Willingness to travel:
- 30% or more domestically (e.g., California, Tennessee)
- 10% or more internationally
- Must be available for 2–3 weeks of onboarding in China
