SUPPLY CHAIN PLANNING MANAGER (STARBASE)

The Space

X supply chain department is a critical player in enabling Starship’s mission. To capitalize on Space

X’s technological and market-changing successes, our team will be part of managing an agile yet robust supply chain that will enable a competitive advantage for the company. The functions within the department include procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics and inventory. Space

X supply chain will play a key role in enabling Space

X to meet the ambitious growth targets and greatly contribute to making us a multi-planetary species.

Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end planning lifecycle for Starship sub-assemblies or finished goods, from accurate bill of material requirements, appropriate supply coverage, and timely configuration management to satisfy the engine production plan.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and procurement counterparts to understand internal rate goals, design change landscape, and supplier production plans to set up a robust supply chain plan capable of scaling with multiple configurations and production rates.
  • Utilize risk management to balance cost, reliability, and production rate based on program goals in a dynamic environment and make effective risk calls.
  • Manage the supply schedule for raw materials and finished goods to optimize days on hand and inventory turns, minimize obsolescence, and enable the production line to output at full rate while avoiding excess inventory.
  • Communicate forecasts to internal and external stakeholders that reflect minimum requirements while hedging against upside or changes in direction.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks in the multi-tier global supply chain by coordinating with procurement, logistics, engineering, and other stakeholders to propose creative solutions and drive to closure.
  • Balance new product introduction (NPI) with rapid iteration and stable production, using risk insight to address challenges in both.
  • Partner with engineering and production teams to plan for and incorporate design or process changes into the production line without impacting build rate.
  • Support in sourcing efforts to guarantee constant supply from internal and external sources to meet production targets.
  • Assess and monitor supply base capacity and constraints at primary and sub-tiers to inform program scenario planning and mitigate ramp challenges.
  • Maintain part and planning master data to reflect lead-times, allocations, yields, attrition, offsets, and order policy.
  • Guide and mentor peers to strengthen resiliency and the talent pipeline.
  • Define and implement processes to enable the business to scale and efficiently utilize human capital, drawing on learnings from world-class manufacturers.
  • Develop applications, reporting, and dashboards to measure team KPIs and support scaling to meet Starship vehicle manifest.
Basic Qualifications
  • Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following; or bachelor’s degree and 5+ years; or 9+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Engineering
    • Purchasing
    • Material or production planning
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Master production scheduling
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience in a high-volume industry (e.g., automotive or consumer electronics).
  • Experience on cross-functional NPI projects, managing multiple products and schedules.
  • Technical knowledge in mechanical commodities (CNC machining, plastic injection molding, die-casting, stampings) or metallic raw materials.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and purchasing/planning functions.
  • Intermediate skills in SQL, Tableau, Power

    BI, and other data analytics.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel & Project, including pivot tables or macros, and data analysis.
  • Experience navigating multi-tier Bills of Materials and work orders.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to respond quickly in a fast-moving environment.
  • Conducts all activities with the highest integrity.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be willing to travel for business as needed
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones
  • This position is based in Starbase, TX and requires being onsite
