Overview
A manufacturing company in Johnson Creek, WI is seeking a Paint Automation Engineer to support and improve robotic paint applications in a high-volume production environment. This role focuses on robot programming, paint process optimization, troubleshooting, and daily production support.
Key Responsibilities- Program, modify, and optimize robotic paint paths (ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa).
- Adjust spray parameters including gun trigger timing, speeds, distances, and film build.
- Support daily production issues involving robots, paint systems, and spray parameters.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, software, and process-related issues.
- Monitor cycle times, transfer efficiency, scrap, and rework rates.
- Maintain standard work instructions, setup sheets, and paint process documentation.
- Perform trials for new parts, colors, and materials; document results.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to improve uptime and reduce material usage.
- Ensure safety and environmental compliance for paint and robotic systems.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams.
- Train operators and technicians on robot operation and troubleshooting.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Controls, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with industrial robots (ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa).
- Experience with automotive or industrial paint/coatings processes preferred.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, or data collection systems is a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 (final compensation based on experience)
