Purpose:

The District Building Inspector performs inspection services associated with the enforcement of and compliance with City and State commercial, residential building, and zoning codes. The incumbent’s inspection activities ensure the aesthetic standards of the community and maintain compliance with applicable regulations.

• Schedule and coordinate inspections, appraisals, and other required services to meet project and regulatory deadlines.
• Conduct inspections of new construction, alterations, and existing buildings.
• Identify code violations and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with city staff and contractors to enforce building codes.
• Respond to public inquiries regarding building and zoning compliance.

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in construction, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Strong knowledge of municipal and state building and zoning codes.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in construction inspection or related regulatory role preferred.
