Surgical Services - Cardiovascular Operating Room
Marshfield Clinic Health System is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to provide clinical support in the Cardiovascular Operating Room. This role offers a full‑time, day‑shift schedule with potential sign‑on bonus and requires adherence to MCHS standards, universal precautions, and sterile technique.
Job SummaryThe Surgical Technologist-CVOR-Acute is a skilled member of the allied healthcare team who provides clinical support and/or operating room assistance under the supervision of a licensed Cardiovascular Surgeon. The Surgical Technologist-CVOR works with a wide variety of healthcare professionals to deliver direct patient care before, during, and after cardiovascular procedures or surgery. The Surgical Technologist-CVOR will function in the scrub role and will monitor and maintain aseptic technique, equipment, supplies and instruments.
It provides a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient and staff by working in accordance with MCHS standards of practice and by adhering to MCHS policies/procedures, universal precautions, and sterile technique.
40 hour per week;
Mon–Fri, 07:00–15:30. Includes weekend, weekday and holiday call expectation.
- Graduate of a surgical technologist program or military equivalent (minimum). Preferred: advanced degree in surgical technology.
- Minimum:
Two years of recent experience as a surgical technologist, or two years clinical experience in an operating room or related healthcare setting. - Preferred:
Two years CVOR experience – competent in functioning independently in complex cardiovascular procedures and life‑saving situations. - Successfully completed certification exam.
- Minimum: BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required within three months of hire; must meet criteria for hospital and ambulatory surgery staff privileges (where applicable). May require additional specialty or department‑specific certifications (where applicable).
- Preferred: BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire;
Surgical Technologist certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. Those without the certification are encouraged to complete continuing education credits to maintain certification.
