You ll Do
The MDP Career Network Advisor provides career coaching and networking to BCG’s departing Managing Directors and Partners (MDPs). In this role, delivering a consistent, high-value coaching experience that optimizes existing resources and reduces reliance on external search partners is critical.
- Provide structured coaching to all departing MDPs (kickoff, monthly coaching, bi-weekly accountability)
- Guide MDPs in developing their leadership narrative and exit story
- Lead resume, Linked In, and board bio workshops to refine executive branding
- Prepare MDPs for C-suite and board-level interviews through mock sessions and feedback
- Support negotiation of executive compensation and board packages
- Help design onboarding strategies for new roles
- Build and track networking plans, ensuring disciplined outreach and opportunity development
- Partner with Career Services and Alumni teams to connect MDPs to leadership opportunities and strengthen alumni community engagement
- Engage with Regional Practice Area Leaders/ client relationship managers to gather market insights, understand client demand trends, and surface leadership opportunities
- Executive career coaching and advisory experience is critical. Experience guiding senior leaders through complex career transitions, helping them clarify goals, reframe narratives, and reposition themselves in the market. Understand labor market dynamics, leadership mobility, and the executive recruitment landscape.
- Collaboration and relationship building with internal stakeholders and external partners (e.g., search firms, industry recruiters) to enhance job opportunities and introductions for job seekers.
- Communication and problem solving; ability to represent BCG in the external market and work with senior executives to develop solutions for talent challenges.
- 10+ years in executive coaching/recruiting or senior leadership roles
- Deep understanding of executive search, C-suite/board hiring, and compensation structures
- Strong network and ability to gather market intelligence without transactional pressure
- Empathetic, discreet, and credible with senior leaders
- Excellent communication skills and presence
- Ability to handle confidential information with care and sensitivity
The MDP People Team is a small group with an outsized impact. We oversee critical processes including MDP recruiting, hiring, integration, departures, and HR, as well as evaluations and promotions. You will collaborate with firm leaders to understand and execute the people strategy and operations.
Format & CompensationAt BCG, in-person work is valued. The role is hybrid; team members are expected in the office 3 to 5 days per week. This role is not remote or virtual.
Compensation:
Total compensation includes base salary, discretionary annual bonus, retirement contribution, and a benefits package. Base salary ranges from $138,000 to $188,000 depending on location and experience. A discretionary bonus of up to 20% and a retirement contribution starting at 5% (rising to 10% after 2 years) are included. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, dental, vision, gym reimbursements, 401(k) with company contributions, parental leave and family benefits, generous PTO, and holidays.
