Overview
A Cyber Data Forensics Analyst specializes in investigating, analyzing, and interpreting data related to cyber incidents. This role bridges the gap between cybersecurity and data science by leveraging advanced analytical methods to uncover evidence, detect anomalies, and reconstruct cyberattacks. The analyst ensures organizations can respond effectively to threats while maintaining legal and ethical integrity.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, process, and analyze digital evidence from compromised systems, networks, and databases.
- Perform log analysis, anomaly detection, and event correlation to identify patterns of attack.
- Apply machine learning and statistical models to detect hidden or advanced persistent threats (APTs).
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams, law enforcement, and legal experts during investigations.
- Document findings in forensic reports suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support proactive threat hunting and incident response initiatives.
- Strong foundation in digital forensics, cybersecurity, and incident response.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Splunk, ELK stack).
- Experience with forensic tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Autopsy) and log analysis.
- Knowledge of malware analysis, intrusion detection, and threat intelligence.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques for anomaly detection.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
