Fiber Designer

We are looking for a Fiber Designer with strong HLD experience to join our team at SII Belgium. In this role, you will contribute to the design, planning, and evolution of fiber optic networks, taking ownership of both the high-level architecture and detailed implementation aspects. You will support Agile teams working on innovative telecom projects for large-scale deployments, and you’ll be key in driving the technical vision behind our network infrastructure.

• Lead the High-Level Design (HLD) of fiber optic architectures (backbone and FTTx), considering scalability, resilience, cost-efficiency, and performance;
• Translate business and technical requirements into HLD documents, including logical network maps, service flows, technology stacks, and capacity planning;
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define network topology, failover strategies, and service levels based on customer needs and regulatory constraints;
• Improve and update fiber configurations by evaluating new technologies and integrating innovative design approaches;
• Work with GIS and inventory tools to keep fiber asset data accurate and accessible; familiarity with QGIS and/or AutoCAD is a plus;
• Support cross-functional teams by delivering expert insights on deployment feasibility, quality controls, and performance validation;
• Contribute to the standardization and evolution of design frameworks to support network growth and transformation goals;

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Telecom, Electronics, ICT, or Engineering);
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in telecom and fiber optic design, with a deep understanding of both HLD and LLD processes;
• Strong technical expertise in PON technology, FTTx networks, and backbone infrastructure;
• Fluent in English and Dutch;
• You value innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement in telecom infrastructure;
• Familiarity with Agile working methods and experience contributing to technical strategy discussions in cross-functional teams.
