Site Reliability Engineer; Observability

About the role

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (Observability) with expertise in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), application performance monitoring, and cloud platforms. In this role, you will drive observability strategies, optimize application performance, and improve service reliability across enterprise environments. You will partner with engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams to enhance monitoring capabilities, accelerate incident resolution, and deliver a resilient user experience.

• Design and implement observability solutions using App Dynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, and related monitoring platforms.
• Establish performance baselines, SLIs/SLOs, and monitoring standards to improve application availability and user experience.
• Analyze application and infrastructure telemetry to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize system reliability.
• Lead root cause analysis efforts and provide architectural recommendations to prevent recurring incidents.
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to improve alerting, runbooks, incident management processes, and platform resilience.

• 7+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Production Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience with App Dynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk, and Grafana in enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, incident management, and SRE best practices.
• Experience supporting cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to work across cross-functional teams.

• Experience with additional APM and observability tools such as New Relic.
• Experience creating enterprise observability strategies and reliability frameworks.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with automation, Dev Ops practices, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Cloud certifications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

The annual salary for this position will be between $
132,000
to$
152,000 per year depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
