Technical Documentation Specialist II

Johnson Health Tech North America is looking for a Technical Documentation Specialist II to help shape the way our teams, technicians, and customers understand and support our fitness equipment. In this role, you’ll combine technical curiosity, hands-on problem solving, and strong communication skills to create documentation, service bulletins, visuals, and videos that make an impact across the business.

Full-time

• You’ll be a key connection point between technical support, engineering, quality, operations, product management, and factory teams.
• Your work will directly support technicians, customer-facing teams, and product launches.
• You’ll take ownership of documentation projects from idea to completion while helping improve how information flows across the organization.
• You’ll get to blend writing, troubleshooting, visuals, video, process improvement, and hands-on technical work.

• Lead technical documentation projects and drive them through completion.
• Create, update, and organize service bulletins, assembly instructions, troubleshooting guides, and support materials.
• Develop photos, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and videos that make technical procedures easier to follow.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to gather accurate information and keep documentation current.
• Support new product launches by ensuring technical support teams have the information they need.
• Maintain feedback loops with internal teams, suppliers, technicians, and customers to continuously improve documentation quality.

• Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree in a technical or communication-related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in a technical-related field; fitness equipment experience is a plus.
• Strong technical writing skills, including experience creating step-by-step assembly or service documents.
• Hands-on aptitude for assembling, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, or supporting equipment.
• Experience working with customer, technician, or field feedback to improve processes and materials.
• Valid driver’s license required for local travel; successful completion of pre-employment and annual MVR checks required to drive on behalf of the company.

• Expert-level Microsoft Office skills, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Advanced knowledge of SAP or similar systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visio for troubleshooting documents.
• Ability to learn new software and identify better ways to create, manage, and share documentation.
• Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, initiative, and comfort working through ambiguity.
• Clear communication style and the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of teams and personalities.

This is an on-site role based at our JHTNA Headquarters in Cottage Grove, WI. The position primarily works in a normal office environment with moderate noise levels and regular interaction with team members. The role may occasionally require standing, walking, or lifting up to 15 pounds.
