Overview
Bricks is soon entering its seventh year as a charity and is entering a new phase of growth, consolidation and long-term planning – including major capital works at our flagship project, St Anne’s House. We are also expanding our creative infrastructure and public art work across Bristol and the West.
We are looking for a Trustee with legal skills to join our board.
Responsibilities- Review and shape major contracts – including our lease with Bristol City Council and other capital or consultancy agreements.
- Oversee governance matters – such as changes to our charitable objects or dealings with the Charity Commission.
- Support with legal aspects of employment, tenancy and freelancer contracts.
- Offer a legal lens on strategic or operational questions.
- Practising or retired solicitor, legal advisor, in‑house counsel or equivalent legal experience in the charity, property, arts or commercial sectors.
- Experience with charity governance and statutory compliance is an advantage.
Full board meets four times per year for no more than two hours, with the option to join online or in person at St Annes House. There are five subcommittees, which bring SMT and trustees together, and trustees can elect to join any, all or none of them. Current subcommittees are:
- Finance and Income (four times a year)
- Capital project (four times a year)
- Fundraising and Income (four times a year)
- Operations & HR (twice a year)
- Public Art (twice a year)
