Position: Summer/Fall 2026 Process Engineer CO-OP

The Process Engineer Co Op performs creation and manipulation of facilities and machine CAD files to create a master library of facilities, production lines, and production equipment accurate to specifications of the manufacturer of equipment and accurate to the layout of Sartori Company converting and process room floors. This position will set up relevant drawings and files, field measure, and verify the accuracy of the drawing for position, location, and accuracy to scale.

Additional tasks include time and waste studies. The person in this role will have the opportunity to learn the various production lines processes at Sartori and propose an optimized grouping of product to consider packaging and palletizing. This position would start in May/June of 2026 and work through December of 2026. This position may be eligible for housing assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Field measure size, position, and location of machines, lines, and process room layouts.
  • Create floor plans for each process line, or manufacturing setting in cheese make, or processing plants along with a master floor plan for each facility assigned.
  • Create, categorize, and file created drawings in a library complete with directory and table of contents.
  • Search databases, catalogs, and manuals, or call on vendors and machine manufacturers and download relevant footprint drawings of complex machines. Create detailed blocks for simple machines, tables, and conveyors accurate to overall footprint of actual represented piece.
  • Create database of blocks of all machines and process equipment for drop-ins to future drawings.
  • Correct inaccuracies in any of the existing files and folders.
  • Provide accurate and timely updates to the Maintenance Manager, seek advice and ask questions as needed.
  • Perform process time studies to determine current performance and identify areas of potential improvements.
  • Measure waste to determine current scrap rates.
Qualifications
  • Education and/or Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), required. Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
    • Experience in CAD software required.
    • Data entry and minimal mechanical aptitude desired.
  • Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of basic mechanics.
    • Knowledge basic tools and operation.
    • Knowledge of GMPs.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of two, three and four digit numbers using units of weight measurement and counts, ratios, proportions, percentages, and geometry.
    • Ability to read and interpret work related documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural diagrams, and carry out work instructions.
    • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively and in a way that other Team Members will understand.
    • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions or apply general rules to specific problems.
    • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move objects weighing 25 to 75 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work

Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The Team Member is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; working in coolers at temperatures of 40-45 degrees; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
