Location: Mellen
Maintenance Crew Leader - 3rd Shift 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Join Columbia Forest Products as a Maintenance Crew Leader. You will train millwrights, assist with installations, repairs, maintenance, rebuilds, and fine‑tuning of mechanical equipment, and collaborate with other crew leaders.
Responsibilities- Work any shift to cover vacations; remain over your normal shift if needed.
- Maintain a positive attitude toward production and maintenance; assist production as required.
- Communicate problems with Production Team Leads, VSM, and Maintenance Supervisor; pass information to oncoming shifts.
- Report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Use Emaint to assign daily tasks, generate work requests, and close out work orders.
- Enter all labor and parts used into Emaint; establish priority of work and ensure proper tracking of parts.
- Place purchase requisitions through Emaint or the purchasing agent.
- Work with HR and Maintenance Supervisor to discipline employees.
- Collaborate with other maintenance crews and train millwrights.
- Complete a weekly observation and approve timecards in Kronos.
- Assign tasks for all millwrights during production and between shifts; correct deficiencies or problems as they arise.
- Turn incomplete tasks over to the oncoming shift, Maintenance Supervisor, or submit a work request to Maintenance Planner.
- Complete the daily absentee report; attend DMS board meetings for maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional technical and mechanical schooling preferred.
- Approximately 6 to 12 months of on‑the‑job training needed to become proficient.
- Knowledgeable of industrial machinery, hand tools, electric and pneumatic systems, welding, machine press, and lathe.
- Experience operating forklifts, Pettibone, loader, Bobcat, company vehicle, manlifts, and other mobile equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow standard operating/work order instructions.
- Strong diagnostic, repair, maintenance, and installation skills for industrial equipment.
- Reasoning ability to apply common sense to written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Language skills: ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; communicate with all levels orally and in writing.
