Job Title: CNC Machinist Mold Manufacturing

Job Description

This role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes to produce high-precision molds in a clean, climate-controlled shop. You will work with small production runs where each part must meet extremely tight tolerances, using your CNC machining and mold experience to deliver consistent, high-quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines, including mills and lathes, to produce precision molds.

  • Read and interpret 3D CAD models, blueprints, and technical data to determine machining requirements and optimal processes.

  • Set up machines using appropriate fixtures, clamps, and overhead cranes for larger components to ensure safe and accurate machining.

  • Inspect machined parts using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and adherence to tight tolerances, down to .001 of an inch.

  • Perform CNC program editing as needed to refine machining operations and improve accuracy and efficiency.

  • Work on small production runs, typically 18 parts, ensuring each part is produced correctly the first time.

  • Focus on mold machining applications, applying specialized knowledge to meet exacting mold specifications.

  • Handle medium-sized parts and occasionally large components, particularly on third shift, using proper setup and handling techniques.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow shop procedures to support a safe and efficient work environment.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC machining.

  • Hands‑on experience programming and setting up CNC mills and lathes, including program editing.

  • Ability to read and interpret 3D CAD models, blueprints, and technical data.

  • Strong experience in machining precision molds.

  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection methods to verify tight tolerances to .001 of an inch.

  • Experience working with small-run production (typically 18 parts) where accuracy and repeatability are critical.

  • Capability to safely use fixtures, clamps, and overhead cranes for larger components.

  • Solid understanding of CNC machining processes and best practices for mold manufacturing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience on both first and third shifts in a machining environment.

  • Comfort working primarily with medium-sized parts and occasionally large parts.

  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality in every part produced.

  • Ability to thrive in a smaller, close‑knit team environment.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to make precise adjustments to CNC programs and setups.

Why Work Here?

You will join a family‑owned operation with a smaller, close‑knit crew where your contributions are visible and valued. The environment emphasizes quality over volume, offering the satisfaction of craftsmanship in precision work.

Work Environment

The shop is climate controlled, well lit, and kept clean to support high-precision mold machining. Work is focused on small runs of 18 parts, with an emphasis on accuracy and tight tolerances.
