The Nursing Department has an excellent opportunity for you to expand your nursing skills and versatility as a Registered Nurse. We are looking for a Registered Nurse for OPD/ Surgical Services.
The Perioperative Staff Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) responsible for providing nursing assessment and initiating nursing care to patients, pediatric through geriatric, having surgery or outpatient procedures. This individual provides direct patient care to surgical patients, with primary emphasis on the pre-operative assessment, post-operative evaluation and discharge. The RN is responsible for post anesthesia care unit responsibilities, pre-operative assessment of the patient, including conducting pre-operative phone calls, completion of pre-operative orders, and communication with the surgeon and surgical team.
The RN is also responsible for the patient once they return to the outpatient department for continued monitoring, and preparation for discharge to home. The Registered Nurse is responsible for communicating and collaborating with members of the direct patient care team to prioritize workload so that patient care outcomes are achieved.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin
- Current Basic Life Support certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required
- Minimum of one-year experience of Medical/Surgical nursing experience preferred
- Ability to apply the principles of asepsis
- Effective time management
- Able to communicate effectively
