Quality Control Technician
Shifts Available: 1st shift 6a-4:30p (Mon-Thurs); 2nd shift 4p-2:30a (Mon-Thurs)
Job Location: Monticello, WI
Compensation: $18-$21.50 per hour
OverviewThe Food Industry Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring that food products meet the required quality and safety standards throughout the production process. This role involves conducting inspections, performing tests, and working closely with the production team to monitor and improve product quality.
Key Responsibilities- Inspection & Testing:
Perform regular inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards. - Compliance:
Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., FDA, HACCP, SQF, ISO 22000). Maintain knowledge of current food safety laws and regulations. - Product Sampling:
Collect and analyze samples from production batches for quality assurance testing, including microbiological, chemical, and physical tests. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of test results, inspections, and product deviations. Prepare and submit reports to quality control management. - Troubleshooting:
Identify and address any quality or safety issues that arise during the production process and recommend corrective actions. - Collaboration:
Work with production teams to ensure quality standards are maintained. Assist in resolving any product quality issues or inconsistencies. - Training & Support:
Assist in training production employees on quality standards and safe food handling practices. - Continuous Improvement:
Participate in root cause analysis for quality failures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field is a plus. - Experience:
1-3 years of experience in a quality control or food safety role, preferably in the food manufacturing or processing industry. - Skills:
Knowledge of food safety standards, regulations, and best practices;
Proficient in using laboratory equipment and performing quality tests;
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols. - Certifications:
HACCP, SQF, or similar certifications are a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a production environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
