Base pay range

$18.50/hr - $27.75/hr

Major Responsibilities
  • Greets customers with quick, friendly, and personal service; delivers legendary customer service, acting with a customer‑comes‑first attitude and connecting with customers to discover and respond to their needs.
  • Sells and serves baked goods and food items, processes transactions through the POS, provides change, and follows cash handling procedures and cash register policies.
  • Maintains the highest level of standards for all product preparation, adhering to licensed Starbucks recipes (at Starbucks locations only), specialty drinks, measurements, and food presentation standards; provides top‑quality espresso shots for hot and cold beverages and maintains espresso equipment to manufacturer and sanitation standards.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during high‑volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard and sets a positive example for the shift team.
  • Communicates with staff and management to solve problems, improve quality & service, implement change, contribute to café goals for increasing sales and profitability, and assists with new barista training through positive reinforcement and coaching.
  • Monitors and records temperatures of food items and equipment (e.g., dish machine, refrigerators); reports food‑danger temperatures to manager and uses established procedures to ensure safe food handling and prevent bacterial contamination.
  • Prepares inventory, requisitions daily supplies, ensures proper labeling and storage, and replenishes food service areas.
  • Follows operational policies to ensure safe food handling, performs sanitation duties continually to maintain a safe work environment (utensils, refrigerators, carts, equipment).
  • Maintains production, safety, and sanitation standards; corrects deficiencies as required, complying with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required
  • None Required.
Education Required
  • No Formal Education.
Experience Required
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in a hospital or hotel/restaurant food service environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Thorough understanding of food preparation through on‑the‑job training or a food service course; attends barista training sessions to attain certification and recertification.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a self‑directed environment.
  • Ability to read and understand written and oral communications.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
  • Operates equipment (e.g., espresso machine, oven, microwave, dish‑machine, grill, register).
  • Stands for long periods, walks, reaches above shoulders, squats, bends, twists, kneels, and climbs throughout shift.
  • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Handles food and hot beverages.
  • Uses hand and finger motions, handles or feels objects, and reaches with hands and arms.
  • Lifts, pushes, carries various items: lift up to 10 lbs. frequently up to 20 lbs.; occasionally up to 50 lbs.; at waist height, carrying distance maximum 5 feet; pushes/pulls 20 lbs.
  • Exposure to fumes, odors, dust/dirt; protective clothing worn as necessary.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards; protective clothing required.
  • Exposure to sharp knives, other sharp utensils, heat from ovens, and hazards in a kitchen environment.
