CTEH is a leading provider of emergency response and environmental consulting services, and we are looking for highly motivated, team‑driven individuals experienced as Rapid Responders to join our team. At CTEH we are committed to protecting the short‑ and long‑term health of the communities, environment, and response workers we serve. We need you to help us do that and we will invest time and resources to give you the skills to do so.

As a Rapid Responder, you will be on the front lines of emergency response and natural disaster situations, providing support for environmental and hazardous materials incidents, all while setting your own availability schedule. This is a fast‑paced and challenging role that requires quick thinking, strong communication skills, and a commitment to excellence. Due to the nature of emergency response, this role requires candidates to be extremely flexible as there will be high variations in workload throughout the year.

Responsibilities
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency and natural disaster situations. The Operations team will contact you for mobilization needs when you are available based on client needs and your qualification level. Being officially “on‑call” will be available to you after specified trainings and advanced qualification levels. On‑call is 24/7.
  • Provide support for environmental and hazardous materials incidents. While air monitoring is our primary response role, we also are proficient in other areas such as moisture mapping, general site safety, and environmental sampling.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all work performed using our in‑house data collection app. Above average aptitude with technology is essential.
Activities / Tasks / Scope
  • Participate in projects related to emergency response, environmental response, risk assessment, toxicology, industrial hygiene, disaster recovery, and infectious disease response.
  • Immediate availability for frequent extended travel and emergency response as needed for periods lasting typically up to 30 days.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Long hours involving overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • Read instruments and record measurements independently.
  • Prepare chain‑of‑custody for environmental samples.
  • Drive non‑commercial vehicles, stand, sit, walk, lift up to 50 lb, bend, stoop, crawl, and climb ladders.
  • Work in settings with potential physical, chemical, and biological hazards; may work outdoors, on water, sea, or air; may be exposed to hot, cold, and extreme weather conditions.
  • Wear half‑face or full‑face air‑purifying respirator (APR); rarely, supplied‑air respirators (SCBA) and hose‑supplied respirators under 29 CFR .
  • Serve on rotating shifts that may include overnight or 24‑hour periods.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Functional or higher computer literacy skills in a Windows‑based environment required.
  • Experience in any branch of the armed forces desirable.
  • Experience and/or proficiency with industrial hygiene equipment desirable.
  • Experience using air and environmental sampling equipment desirable.
  • Relevant experience in emergency response, environmental response, construction management, etc. desirable.
Professional Skills / Licenses / Certifications
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Current valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Pass company‑supplied pre‑employment physical and annual physicals, including a drug screen.
  • Pass Respirator Fit Test and be medically cleared and certified to work in HAZWOPER sites per 29 CFR .
  • Complete HAZWOPER certification and related safety training.
  • Obtain DISA clearance.
  • Obtain TWIC clearance.
  • Complete all assigned job‑specific OSHA training and clearances, including annual training renewals for continuous response readiness.
