Underground Utility Locator

Position Overview

Great Opportunity for Outdoor Work and Freedom! Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour.

• Drive a company vehicle directly from home to job sites in response to routine ticket requests, emergencies, and relocations.
• Utilize the provided mapping tools and location information, along with locating equipment, to identify underground utilities including but not limited to electric utilities, gas utilities, telephone, and other communication lines.
• Mark utility locations using paint or flags and communicate relevant information to excavation personnel or other authorities.
• Respond to after‑hours emergency call‑outs according to the established rotation schedule.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of utility locations.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

• Computer Skills
• Valid driver’s license in the state of employment
• Ability to perform overtime when duties cannot be completed during the normal schedule
• Compliance with Vannguard's Drug‑Free Workplace Program and pre‑employment drug screening
• Strong self‑management and timely communication with supervisors and clients

• Drive 50 to 300+ miles daily as required by the assigned geographic locating area.
• Get in and out of a vehicle 50+ times a day.
• Stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ mile) over uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
• Sit for long periods of time while driving.
• Lift and/or move 50 to 150 pounds.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• High school or equivalent (Required)

• Driver’s License (Required)

• Multiple locations across the region

Full‑time

• 10‑hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• On call for emergencies
• Overtime as needed
