L & S is looking for a Power Systems Specialist located in Appleton, WI. We are seeking a self‑motivated professional that has excellent problem‑solving and communication skills and is able to work with a team as well as independently.
We are willing to train if someone has an interest in electricity and power!
- Ground grid testing, medium voltage cable testing.
- Service and test transformers, relays, breakers, switches, and other electrical apparatus/systems at utility substations and industrial facilities.
- Troubleshoot and test control circuits, communications systems, protection systems and other electrical apparatus.
- Perform breaker and relay retrofits.
- Ability to read prints and control/protection schemes.
- Complete and submit reports accurately and timely.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
- Apply test procedures for various types of relay test equipment.
- Substation awareness and safety consciousness.
- Aptitude to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
- Good PC skills and the ability to support testing activities as required by the project lead.
- Perform testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi‑Pot, Hi‑Current, and Timing tests.
- Testing on power transformers including Power Factor, TTR, Insulation Resistance, Winding Resistance.
- Computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and interface software for testing and reporting.
- Complete mechanical work and repairs on breakers including wiring, painting, parts replacement.
- Utilize and accurately read meters.
- Read and plot curves.
- AA in Electrical Power, EE, or 5+ years field experience.
- Proficient computer and phone skills, to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on client/customer needs.
- Valid driver’s license.
