Location: Town of Wittenberg

Overview

Homme Youth and Family Programs (Lutheran Social Services of WI & Upper MI) is seeking a Youth Counselor for full-time, 2nd shift (2 PM - 10 PM). Compensation is $18.50/hr on weekdays and $20.50/hr on weekends. The position operates on a 4-day work week with every other weekend required.

What You’ll Do
  • Work directly with residents (primarily males ages 10–15) as a positive role model and advocate
  • Maintain sight and sound supervision
  • Record observations and daily documentation
  • Support personal hygiene and safe living spaces
  • Transport and escort clients to activities and appointments
  • Prepare meals and supervise mealtimes
  • Communicate updates to parents, therapists, and professionals
  • Respond appropriately in times of crisis
Who We’re Looking For

  • Knowledgeable about child development and trauma-informed care
  • Able to handle the demands of working with at-risk youth and families
Qualifications
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Law Enforcement, or related field)
  • Experience: 1+ year in Human Services, crisis management, Mandt/CPI training (or ability to complete within 90 days)

Work Details
  • Physical demands: ability to stand/walk for 8+ hours, lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
  • Work environment: exposure to outdoor weather conditions during work hours
  • Must respond appropriately to crisis situations, including verbal/physical aggression
