Job Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Youth Enrichment Officer and in accordance with the policies of the Greater Green Bay YMCA, the Director of Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya will be responsible for providing progressive, high quality camping leadership to the Green Bay YMCA.

Essential Functions
  • Define, delegate, supervise, and appraise the work of the staff assigned to Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya.
  • Prepare annual income and expense budget for approval by the Chief Youth Enrichment Officer.
  • Administer the budget, exercising necessary controls to assure operations which are consistent with the approved budget. Whenever necessary, recommend adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation.
  • Be accountable to the Chief Youth Enrichment Officer for execution of policies and procedures of the Association.
  • Give leadership to Camping Cabinet. Develop Association standards for camp programs and create guidelines for delivering high quality camp programs.
  • In coordination with the long-range objectives and activities of the Association, establish long range plans for the expansion of Camp programs and services and action steps to achieve those plans.
  • Provide leadership to the annual giving campaign and other financial development programs of Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya.
  • Ensure necessary and appropriate promotional materials, i.e. brochures, advertisements, news releases, etc. are developed. Speak to groups, give interviews, and distribute camp information as requested.
  • Recruit, develop and recognize camp volunteers.
  • Develop programs designed to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of campers and enrich their growth as individuals. Provide an opportunity for campers and parents to express their feedback of camp.
  • Ensure all camp programs are operating within the standards established by the American Camping Association and state licensing agencies.
  • Serve as the staff liaison to the Y’s Men’s Club.
Skills and Training

A college degree and/or at least 5 years’ experience in a recreation related field is required. A broad background in camping program development, camp management, and facility management is required. Position must have administrative ability in budget development, income production, expense control, and paid and volunteer staff supervision. Skills in promotion, public relations, financial development and the ability to solicit strong volunteer involvement are essential.
