About Lift Maltings
Lift Maltings is an 11-16 school based in Witham, Essex, situated between the cities of Chelmsford and Colchester. The school has 900 students on roll and benefits from a modern, purpose‑built site opened in 2011. Pay, Hours & Immediate StartPart‑time, fixed term until August 2027
- 30.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year
- Immediate start
Pay varies by qualification:
- Without a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification:
Voluntary Real Living Wage – £17,158.98 per annum - With a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification: NJC Scale 3‑5 – £17,502.71 – £18,058.22 per annum
- Support students’ learning needs, including specific SEND needs, to help them access lesson content and achieve learning objectives.
- Help students develop independent learning skills.
- Deliver targeted interventions in partnership with teachers.
- Promote positive behaviours and support students’ wellbeing.

All new Teaching Assistants working 20 hours or more per week on a permanent contract will be automatically enrolled on a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship if they do not already hold this qualification. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain essential skills and knowledge through the ‘Initial Teaching Assistant Training’, ensuring you are fully equipped to succeed in your role.
