Import Customs Administrator

Market leading salary – dependent on experience
Hours:
Monday to Friday – 9am to 5.30pm
About the role:
Simarco is an award‑winning international logistics provider, delivering bespoke freight solutions across the UK, Europe, and worldwide. The Import Customs Administrator will work as part of a team to manage customs documentation, clear goods into the UK, calculate VAT and duty, and stay current with import regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar Customs or Import role is essential
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations and international processes
- Excellent communication, negotiating and problem‑solving skills, both written and verbally
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
- Experience with customs platforms and industry‑standard software (CHIEF, CNS Destin8, ETSF warehouse processes)
- Excellent numerical skills – calculation of VAT and duty on behalf of HMRC
- Self‑motivated, organisational, and records‑keeping
- Handling and signing customs documents under Power of Attorney on behalf of clients
- Extracting and processing data from commercial invoices and packing lists to complete import declarations
- Using specialist customs software (Destin8, Sequoia, Descartes) to clear goods into the UK
- Working closely with importers, exporters, and internal teams to ensure smooth processing
- Managing duties and taxes, applying for refunds, and assisting with tariff reclassification
- Staying up to date with the latest import regulations (CDS, NCTS, GVMS, IPAFFS)
- Ensuring accurate and timely completion of at least 75+ entries per week
